Provide barred owls with a comfortable, suitable home using the Coveside Barred Owl House. Barred owls do not build nests of their own and are one of the few varieties of owl that will acclimate to a man-made nesting box. This roomy box has a generous, 6" diameter front entry, and features drainage holes in the floor as well as a slanted roof to keep the interior dry. Two holes in each side of this quaint house provide ventilation and ensure the box remains temperate so as not to harm owlets. The included wood chips may be spread onto the base of the nesting chamber in preparation for roosting owls, creating a cozy nest and preventing the eggs from rolling around. The pine frame comes together readily and sports a rough texture, ideal for helping nestlings with access and egress. A divided, latched side panel allows you to observe nesting owls and lends easy access for cleanup once the house is vacant. Once completed, the home should be placed between 10' and 20' high up in a tree, with the entrance facing away from prevailing winds and with an unobstructed flight path to and from the house. Its custom-milled, kiln dried, pine construction lends a gorgeous, natural appearance to the shelter, and this material will weather over time, providing an inconspicuous roost just as these owls prefer. Simply use the included hardware pack to connect all panels together to complete the shelter. Celebrate birds of prey in your forest with this Barred Owl House. Assembly required.
